Interior decorating has moved from light to dark. Many Santa Barbara homeowners would rather see shades of black, brown, and grey rather than pale woods. Everything, from cabinets to appliances, is taking on a darker shade. To some, these darker colors provide a soothing ambiance and balance the stresses of daily life.

The downside to dark decor is that like any trend, it will pass. The formica of the 50s and forest greens of the 80s definitely date a room. However, if done properly, your Santa Barbara home can be changed from traditional to warm and cozy.
